He told me he'd been informed that state laws were trumped by these "PODS rules" if schools had accepted covid monies. (I was extremely disturbed by everything that was going on at the time and trying to contacting him to share information to save my grandchildren and all the other children in my community).
I so wonder why some of us saw this lie from the beginning… life experiences, parents or grandparents experiences , knowledge, wisdom, discernment…I don’t think education and /or IQ play a big role.
Speaking for myself, I think it’s because I thought through my own health philosophy before the lockdowns occurred -- long journey from 2013-2016. So, understanding my metaphysical stance, epistemology (what I will accept as proof for/against any health claim), ethics/morality, aesthetics and political bias helped me say “Not for me or mine” right from the start of this mess.
The old saying: “You must stand for something otherwise you will fall for anything” seems appropriate.
Being a skeptic helps. I have a science background which itself demands skepticism. Also, for me, the 2000 presidential election, and engaging “the opposition” on the old Yahoo message boards led me to begin to question everything the tv and “the opposition” had to say.

I’m biased to the vitalist side (as opposed to mechanistic -- which is being taught in every western medical school and even by Biology 101 professors). This means I’m a “victim of the vitalist fallacy.” So with that in mind my first questions to establish my metaphysical/existential stance as it relates to health are:
What makes a body healthy (or heal)? Is the body merely a collection of chemicals and processes that can be cut, removed, rearranged and put back together much like a car or is there something else to this meat suit we wear?
When you answer these types of questions for yourself, you begin to build a foundation which informs how you respond to new information being presented by “experts”...(I.e.> there’s a novel virus originating in Wuhan that is sweeping the world by storm and 100M will die if you don’t lockdown and do everything we say for two weeks)
I decided no one knows my body better than me. My belief is the body is a self healing and self regulating organism and given proper nutrition and hygiene can go a much longer way than contemporary western medicine wants you to believe.
This is not to say I oppose allopathic medicine. My conclusion for allopathy is that it’s great for emergency and disease-crisis management. It is not so great an idea for securing long term, life-long health. You may come to a different conclusion and I’m completely ok with that.
Anecdotally, I’ve heard old-school docs say, “ALWAYS listen to the patient. There is one point that needs to be made about military folks. They take an oath to defend and protect the Constitution. They have an obligation to refuse to follow any orders that are not Constitutional, legal or moral. Any soldier or officer who doesn’t do that can be held liable - and have been - if they are found to follow an UnConstitutional order. My husband was an IG in the AF and has had to question orders as well as investigate situations like this. They aren’t doing that but it might be a place to aim for from a legal standpoint.

My Coworker and I both smelled a rat immediately. We were required to go to work everyday to implement every absurd measure .Gov was feeding business leaders. We immediately asked with what authority was the state of MD deciding who could travel freely and work? Under what authority are we taking medical measurements, temp checks and asking people for HIPPA protected personal medical information? No business or government leader had an answer. HR disappeared. By early April, my coworker and I, both engineers, had clearly demonstrated to our company that IR temperature scans were wildly inaccurate and a useless waste of resources. We did it empirically, but there was published data already out there. We were told to not say a work by our business leaders and just keep doing it. Fear was a big component of the acceptance of authoritarian Edicts, but in my opinion, the second key motivation was the free ride for white collar workers. Most of our HR and Sr. Business leaders were given a salary for taking an extended covid vacation, some for over a year. The dual incentive of fear and a handout is genius.
