Limited Edition Typeset Bailiwick News
I typeset an abridged version of the April 27, 2020 issue of Bailiwick News, a list of foods that humans eat that can be produced in Centre County.
It’s my first lengthy typeset piece using 10-point Century Schoolbook lead type from M&H Type Foundry in San Francisco, printed on my homemade bottlejack press on 140-pound Canson watercolor paper with Prussian Blue Cranfield Caligo ink. I learned a lot in the multi-month process, evidenced by multiple imperfections, weird word spacing, uneven right-side margins, and variability in the prints.
Fifteen fully-legible, 6”x9” prints are available for $10 each to anyone interested, cash or check only. Email kgwatt@protonmail.com to order. Free home delivery to buyers in Centre County.
Suitable for framing? Maybe.
An interesting thing to have if you’re interested in things like local food history and food security? Yes.
